Production is under way to get Retina display targeted at an extra mainstreamMacBook Pro, CNET has learned.

Production has begun of a typical 2,560-by-1,600 pixel density display which could land around a 13.3-inch MacBook Pro, NPD DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim told CNET.

"The supply chain indications are that it's for just about any MacBook Pro 13.3 -- not aMacBook Air," said Shim.

Displays are now being given by Samsung, LGD, and Sharp, he explained.

Shim stated that production volume is predicted to be substantially higher outside the gate as opposed to current 15.4-inch Retina MacBook Pro.
